Drew Rosenhaus is a sports agent who represents over 100 NFL players. Mr. Rosenhaus represented Terrell Owens when he was an Eagle. Looking back it seems that T.O. was the test subject and after getting him out of his contractual obligation in Philadelphia, he has now learned and sharpened his method and released it yet again, this time involving Chad Johnson. It has been leaked to C-N-N that a possible book is on the way explaining how to use the tactics honed by Mr. Rosenhaus and apply them to your everyday work life. “Contract Be Damned” could be your ticket to blowing off responsibilities and getting paid big for being selfish and putting the “I” in t-e-a-m. Here is a brief summary of the techniques that will be outlined. The T.O. Technique – You have just finished taking a mildly successful department and made them the best department in the whole company. Even though you have done exactly what you where suppose to do when you were signed to a seven year contract, you decide you are worth more money. You make your demands known only to be rejected by your employer who thinks you should abide by your contract. If you think you have reached an impasse, the T.O technique will get you to a better place. This method will hurt your current company but why should you care, you’re going to get yours right! First off you need to whine and gripe to anyone and everyone that will listen. Tell the local papers how bad the company you work for is. Disrupt department meetings and just start going through the motions during working hours. You may end up being sent home but don’t worry, go to a local bar and get loud about how you are being mistreated and deserve better. Though you are burning bridges, don’t be too concerned. There will be plenty of companies out there that will convince themselves that your side is the right version and pay you plenty to come work for them. The Ocho Cinco Technique – After a very successful year in your department you sign a contract extension for another 5 years. The following year your department flounders and you see no improvement coming in the near future and want out. What do you do? Similar to the T.O. Technique, you need to get the word out to everyone that will listen that you want out and you need to point your finger at anyone and everyone available. It is obviously not your fault and the best thing for the “team” is if you just part ways. Using this technique, you want everyone to believe you are a team player and want to succeed. So keep showing up for work somewhere around the time you are suppose to. Explain to the company that you have had some sort of weekend injury and will have to take it easy over the next couple weeks because you’re afraid that it might get worse. Make this convincing because you may have to use that weekend nagging injury to explain your lack luster season. This method may take a little longer but again, someone will see you “trying” and pay you big bucks to come work for them. Though no further information about the book can be found, we at C-N-N think that this will be an invaluable resource to anyone not willing to own up to contractual obligations and work hard for the betterment of an organization.
